William G. Buntz

    William G. Buntz, 91, a resident of Scranton, died Saturday afternoon at home. His wife the former Pauline M. Foresman died September 28, 1998.

    He was born July 20, 1916, in Scranton, the son of the late John and Lillian Schmidt Buntz. He was a longtime member of Hickory Street Baptist Church and a graduate of Scranton Technical High School before joining the US Army where he served in the Panama Canal Zone. Then at the age of 28, he was drafted by the US Army and trained as a tank commander for operational service in World War II. Prior to retirement he was employed by the Hawk Oil Company.

    He was a man of great personal faith in Jesus Christ. He served the Lord all his life and was a deep inspiration to his children and grandchildren.

    Surviving are a daughter, Paula Walsh; a daughter in law, Ann, a son, Edwin and his wife Pat, a daughter Susan, all of Scranton, a daughter, Carla Borne and her husband Glenn, Carbondale, a daughter Janet, South Abington Township, a son, Mark and his wife Deborah, Dalton; as well as thirteen grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by a brother Jack; a sister, Mabel Noll; a son, Roger and two grandchildren.

    The funeral will be Wednesday with Services at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton, with services by his son-in-law, the Reverend Glenn Borne. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
