Arlene M. Packer, 71, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Saturday morning in the Community Medical Center. She and her husband William M. Packer would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary November 15, 2008.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of late William and Charlotte Weichel Meinefeld. She was a lifelong member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church and attended Scranton Central High School.
She looked forward to holidays with her family especially Christmas and the 4th of July. Her family meant everything to her. She loved her Dachshund, Sandy, and enjoyed attending the South Scranton Senior Center.
Also surviving are two daughters, Susan M. Miller, Scranton, Gloria Siciliano and her husband Joseph, Scranton; two sons, William M. Packer Jr. and his wife Beth, Scranton, Robert Packer, Scranton; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, 436 Cedar Avenue, with services at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Tom H. Collins, pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church. Interment, Pittston Avenue Cemetery, Scranton.
