Robert Kellett

Robert E. Kellett, 83, a resident of Scranton, died Wednesday morning in the Mercy Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit. He and his wife the former Jean Finkler would have celebrated their 60th wedding Anniversary on September 4th, 2008.

He was born May 28, 1924 in Scranton, the son of the late Edward and Alice Pantle Kellett. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, attended Scranton public schools, was a veteran of WW II serving in the European Theater with the US Army, a member of the American Legion, Major Edward J. Poch Post #948 and a former member of the Mountaineers Social Club. Prior to retiring he had been employed at US Textile Machine and was also self employed.

Bob was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams included Notre Dame, the Boston Red Sox and the Giants, he also enjoyed participating in outdoor sports.

The family would like to give special thanks to  the nurses and staff at Moses Taylor Hospital, 2 West, and the nurses and staff at Mercy Hospice Inpatient Unit for their kind and compassionate care.

Also surviving is a daughter, Kathleen Kellett, Scranton; a brother, John Kellett, Scranton; a sister, Patricia Dee, Scranton; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister Grace Hribal; a brother Girard Kellett. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with mass at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street, by a cousin, the Rev. G. Donald Pantle, S.J.. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
