Robert W. Wombacker, 64, a longtime resident of Mount Cobb died Friday afternoon in the Moses Taylor Hospital after a brief illness. He and his wife the former Judy Bomersheim would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary December 16, 2008.
He was born on April 29, 1943 in Moscow, the son of the late John H. and Mabel Haines Wombacker. He was educated in Moscow public schools and a member of the Moscow United Methodist Church. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam conflict, was a member of the American Legion Wilson-Conklin Post #579, Moscow and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #5207, Daleville. He had been employed for several years by the Painters Local Union #218 as a painter and prior to retirement, by the Elmhurst Country Club as the groundskeeper.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter.
Also surviving are two sons, Bob Wombacker, Blakely, Daniel Wombacker and his wife Angela, Harding; two daughters, Amy Wombacker, Gouldsboro, Tara Miller and her husband Eric, Elmira, NY; a brother, Don Wombacker, Gouldsboro; two sisters, Lois Stout and her husband Clarence, Clifton Township, Mary Richards, Daleville; three grandchildren, Brittney Wombacker, Alexis Wombacker and Keira Wombacker; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Alberta Rauf; three brothers, John D. Wombacker, Harold T. Wombacker and Ralph Wombacker.
The Funeral will be Tuesday at 11 am in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverend Jon Buxton, Pastor of the Moscow United Methodist Church. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
