C. Kennedy, LPN, 99, a resident of Scranton since 1930, died Friday afternoon in
the Allied Skilled Nursing Center. She was the widow of Franklin R. Kennedy Sr.,
December 24, 1969.
She was born on May 17, 1908 in
Wilkes Barre and raised in Hudson, the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl
Stubbs Scutt. She graduated in 1927 from the Plains Township High School in the
first graduating class. She was a member of Elm Park United Methodist Church and
prior to retirement worked as a private duty nurse. She was an avid reader and a long time member of
the Scranton Library. She enjoyed crewel embroidery and quilting. Surviving are two sons, Franklin R. Kennedy Jr. and
his wife Jean G., Downingtown, Joseph S. Kennedy and his wife Joan L., West
Chester; four grandchildren, Kathryn Marvin and her husband Ronald, Farmington
Hills, MI, Stephen Kennedy and his wife Paula, Devon, Timothy Kennedy and his
wife Tracy, Frisco, TX, Thomas Kennedy, Philadelphia; five great grandchildren,
Rachael Marvin, Farmington Hills, MI, Zachary Marvin, Farmington Hills, MI,
Blair Kennedy, Devon, Duncan Kennedy, Frisco, TX, Aidan Kennedy, Frisco, TX. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30
am in the Sanctuary of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, 712 Linden Street,
by the Reverend Virginia E. O'Malley, Pastor of Elm Park United Methodist
Church. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday at Elm
Park United Methodist Church from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Memorial contributions can
be made in her memory to the Lackawanna County Library System, Scranton Public
Library, 500 Vine Street, Scranton, PA 18509-3205.
