Dolores Marie Rowan, 86, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Friday morning at home. She was the widow of Myles A. Rowan who died April 2, 1979.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late William and Caroline Schenrock Welker. She was a lifelong member of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church and a superintendent of the Children's Sunday School for many years. Prior to retirement she had been employed by Conte's Café and retired from Haddon Craftsman.
She was an avid seamstress and enjoyed making her children and grandchildren’s clothes for many occasions. She enjoyed word search and crocheting hangers and towels. She was always known to give crackers to her grandchildren’s dogs, Shadow, Blackie and Isabelle. She was an extremely loving person who was generous with her talents. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her daughter and caretaker, Carolyn Parise and her husband Vincent J., Scranton; two grandchildren, John Parise and Mia Parise both of Scranton; a sister in law, Marge Rowan, Lewistown; a daughter, Maureen and her family; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Kramer and Gladys Geary; a brother, William Welker.
The Funeral will be Monday at 11 am in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverend William G. Carter, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Clarks Summit. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst
