Francis D. "Frank" Philbin, 81, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Tuesday morning in the Golden Living Center. His wife, the former Joan Gannon, died October 1, 2004.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Frank and Emily Hosking Philbin. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Church, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Penn State University. Prior to retirement he had been employed by RCA Manufacturing.
He was always quick with a smile and ready to listen, he was a happy guy.
Surviving are three sons, Michael and wife Deborah, Pontiac, MI; Barry and his wife Sandi, Spokane, Washington Terry, Scranton; a daughter, Sheila Duff and husband Jay, Scranton; five grandsons, Jonathan and Michael Bibalo, Christopher, Matthew and Thomas Duff.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Philbin.
A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, by the Reverend Michael Bryant, Pastor of Nativity of Our Lord Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
