Ruth Gehling

Ruth Gehling, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Saturday morning in the Mountain View Care Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of George C. Gehling who died August 23, 1969.

She was born September 15, 1925, in Scranton, the daughter of the late John and Florence Hughes. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of Saint Matthews United Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had been employed by Haddon Craftsman and retired from the Haband Company, Inc..

She was an avid bowler who loved to play cards with her friends and also enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Mountain View Care Center for their wonderful loving and compassionate care.

Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Boyle, Scranton, Christine Ancherani and her husband Daniel, Scranton; a son, George C. Gehling, Scranton; a brother, John Hughes and his wife Robin, Enfield, CT; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Linda J. Koshinski; a brother, David Hughes; a sister Mary Rozelle.

The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Services at 10 a.m. in St. Matthews United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 425 Jefferson Ave., by Reverend C. Lester Stephenson. Interment, Washburn Street Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Saint Matthews United Evangelical Lutheran Church 425 Jefferson Avenue. Scranton, PA 18510-2492.
