Cheryl A. Parry Dimond, 46, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Friday afternoon at home. She and her husband Clarence A."Lonnie" Dimond would have celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on October 14, 2008.
She was born in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of Fred and Carol Gaus Parry, Scranton. She was a graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School Class of 1979, received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and a Masters Degree in Community Counseling from the University of Scranton. She was in Who's Who Among American High School Students and received several awards for academic excellence. She was an activist for people with disabilities and owned Diamond In The Rough Counseling Services which specialized in people with disabilities.
She was a very special person who loved cats, children and loved people unconditionally. She was her husband Lonnie's soul mate.
Also Surviving are a sister, Shelley Wassel and her husband Bill, Scranton; a brother, Frederick Parry and his wife Joan, Springbrook; three nieces, Cami Wassel, Valerie Parry, Deanna Reid; three nephews, Billy Wassel, Matthew Wassel and Frederick Parry; a godmother, Barbara Conrad, Old Forge; a godfather, Frank Gaus, Tunkhannock; aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, LeeAnn Parry, Carla Parry and Deanna Parry; a nephew William Wassel; a godson, Sandi Matylewicz.
Friends may call on Monday 5 to 8 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton. Cremation Service will take place at the Maple Hill Crematory, Hanover Township, Inurnment will be at a later date in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
