Elva M. Walsh

Elva M. "Ellie" Walsh, 86, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday evening in the Mountain View Care Center after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Robert J. Walsh who died April 15, 1974.

She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Louis J. and Louise Saar Biggs. She was educated in Scranton Public Schools and a member of Saint David’s now united with Saint Patrick’s Church. She worked as a seamstress and then retired at the age of 82 as a health care provider.

She loved her Catholic faith. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, was a good mom and will be sorely missed by her family.

Surviving are four sons, Robert L. Walsh, Scranton, James Michael Walsh, Scranton, Thomas J. Walsh, Pace, FL, David W. Walsh, Scranton; a daughter, Patricia A. Haggerty, Gouldsboro; two sisters, Ethel Sealey and Gloria Boock both of Scranton; her caregiver and granddaughter, Debra Wagner, Dunmore; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother William J. Biggs.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
