Hilda J. Yaeger Howarth

Hilda Jenny Yaeger Howarth, 50, a lifelong resident of Scranton, formerly of the East Mountain, section of Scranton, died Tuesday at home. She is survived by her companion of fourteen years, Darrell Oden.

She was born in Scranton on September 2, 1958, the daughter of Helen Flowers Yaeger, Scranton and the Late Hugo C. Yaeger. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She attended Shiloh Baptist Church and was a social member of the Waldorf Park German American Federation. She had been employed by TLC Trucking company.

She was a very caring and loving daughter, mother, sister and grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends. She had a love of all animals especially her dogs. Jake and Fletcher. She enjoyed cooking and was an avid gardener, she enjoyed all kinds of flowers.

Also surviving is a son, Michael Howarth, Scranton; a daughter, Melanie Howarth, Scranton; four sisters, Elsa Nelson, Pat Shea and her husband Mike, Carlene Coombes and Cathy Yaeger, all of Scranton; a brother, Leo Yaeger and his wife Rose, Scranton; a grandson, Isaiah McCole; granddaughter, Ciara McCole, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hugo Carl Yaeger III.

The Funeral Services will be Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, by the Reverend Reginald D. McClain, pastor of the Shiloh Baptist Church. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call on Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Yaeger Family, 1640 East Elm Street, Scranton, PA 18505-3926.
