Ruth E. Williams, 77, longtime resident of Scranton, died Sunday morning in the Green Ridge Health Care Center after an illness.
She was born in West Hazleton, the daughter of the late Melvin and Catherine Craver Williams. She was graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a member of Saint Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club and prior to retirement had been employed for 42 years by the Bell Telephone Company.
The family wishes to thank "ALL" the staff at the Green Ridge Health Care Center for the wonderful care and thoughtfulness that they gave Ruth.
Surviving are two sisters, Arlene Williams Romano and her husband Damion, Tunkhannock, Marion Williams Wirth and her husband Edward, Georgetown, TX; nieces, Linda Wirth Ybarbo and her husband Bruno, Georgetown, TX, Leslie Wirth Johnson and her husband Robert, Winter Springs, FL, Danelle Romano Trexler and her husband Jonathan, Tunkhannock, Michelle Romano Hall and her husband Robert, Dickson City; two uncles, Frank Craver and his wife Ruth, Niagra Falls, NY and Gus Craver, Niagra Falls, NY; cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral Services and the interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family with the Reverend David A. Searing, pastor of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. The interment will be in the Sunny Side Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
There will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions can be made in her memory to Saint Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 Taylor Avenue, Scranton PA 18510-1350 or to the Tunkhannock Public Library, 220 West Tioga Street, Tunkhannock, PA 18657-6611.
