Ervin G. Pilger Sr.

Ervin G. Pilger Sr., 78, a resident of Dickson City, formerly a long time resident of South Scranton, died early Thursday morning in the Mercy Hospital shortly after arrival. He and his wife the former Janet M. Martin celebrated their 52nd wedding Anniversary September 18th.

He was born in Scranton, the son of the late George M. and Beatrice Simonson Pilger. Prior to retirement he had been employed by the McKinney Corporation.

He was an avid Yankees and race car fan; he enjoyed all kinds of car racing and especially NASCAR.

The family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Perry and Dr. John Lundin for all they did for him.

Also surviving is a daughter, Judy and her companion John Skumanick, Dunmore; a son, Ervin G. Pilger Jr., and his wife Mary J., Old Forge; two granddaughters, who were the love of his life, Lisa M. Harvey, Dunmore and Andria J. Pilger, Old Forge; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Barbara A. Pilger and two brothers, Aaron D. & Milton G.

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue with services by Rev. Joseph F. Sica. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call on Sunday 5 to 8 pm.
