Robert J. Hafner, 91, a resident of Moosic, died Wednesday evening in the
Community Medical Center, Emergency Department. He
was the husband of the former Helen Dooner for 34 years and was preceded in
death by his first wife the former Lucille Gorecki.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Anthony P. and Josephine Hertz
Hafner and was educated in the Scranton Public School system.
He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, a veteran of WW II
serving with the US Navy, life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post #3451
and a member of the Knight of Columbus. Prior to retirement he was employed as a
supervisor at the former Weston Controls in Archbald.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who will be dearly
missed. He enjoyed traveling to Las
Vegas, gardening and was an avid fisherman.
Also surviving are two grandsons, Paul Hafner and his wife Debbie, Scranton,
David Hafner and his wife Dawn, Scranton; a daughter in law, Judith Hafner,
Scranton, a sister in law, Mary Maucerri, Old Forge; five great grandchildren,
several nieces, nephews and cousins
He was preceded in death by a son Paul R. Hafner, December 1, 2006; brothers and
sisters.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc.,
436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Interment, St. John the Evangelist
Cemetery, Pittston.
