Vincent Paul Turnabe, 88, a life long resident of Scranton died early Sunday
morning in the VNA Inpatient Unit at the Community Medical Center.
He was the widow of the former Betty Wren
who died in 1994.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Charles and Mary Turnabe.
He was a member of St. Mary’s of the
Assumption Church, served his country with the US Army during WW II, a member of
the Elks Club and was a longtime member of the Elmhurst Country Club.
Prior to retirement he was owner and
operator of Turnabe’s Pizza, which was located at 415 Alder Street, for more
than 50 successful years.
The joy of his life was his two daughters and his granddaughter.
Making his special pizza daily is what
defined him. He was a kind person
showing his kindness and generosity to anyone in need.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lewonczyk, and Bonnie Jeanne Aquilina, both
of Scranton; a granddaughter, Christine Leuthe, Moosic; nieces, nephews and
cousins.
He was preceded in death by a brother Benjamin Turnabe and a sister Annette
Hirkey.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 am in St. Mary’s of the
Assumption Church, 430 River Street. The
interment will be held privately in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
