Hilda H. Botke, 97, a lifelong resident of
Scranton, died late Tuesday evening in the Allied Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late William and
Martha Klein Botke. She was a life long member of Trinity United Church of
Christ, a member of Martha’s Sewing Circle, the 606 Club, Young at Heart Club
and the Mountaineers Social Club. She was a member of the ILGWU and worked in
the local garment industry until she retired from the Sharon Ann Dress shop.
She enjoyed being with her family and friends. She loved to
travel, especially with the church on their bus trips. She also enjoyed
listening to Loretta Lynn.
Surviving are a nephew and caregiver, LeRoy P. Williams and his
wife Emily of Delmar, NY, niece and caregiver, Laraine C. Beck and her husband
Ralph of Scranton; two nephews, Kenneth Botke of Olyphant and William Botke of
Clarks Summit, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great
nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Madeline Williams,
Caroline Botke, Margaret Reardon; five brothers, Elmer Botke, Edward Botke,
Alfred Botke, Lawrence Botke and William Botke; a niece Wilma Banko.
The Funeral and Committal services will be on Saturday starting at 10:30 am in
the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.
The Services will be conducted by the
Rev. Harrison Putnam, pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ. The
interment will be held privately in the Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington
Township.
Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial
