
Linda Parker Fields

Linda Parker Fields, 65, a resident of Allentown, a former resident of Scranton
went home to be with Our Lord early Thursday morning in the HCR Manor Care,
Easton, after a courageous battle with cancer. She
was the Widow of Joseph Fields who died on May 28, 1994.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Aaron and Veola Ida McPhail
Parker. She was a former member of
Bethel A.M.E. Church and an active follower of Christ.
She was a graduate of Scranton Technical
High School, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and a
Master in Social Work from Marywood University, and she completed her PhD Course
work in Social Work at Marywood University. She
was an adjunct faculty member at Marywood University and student member of
Marywood University Cultural Diversity Committee.
She was the founding mother of the Women’s Resource Center in 1978, voted
Social Worker of the year July 2000, for the state of Pennsylvania.
She had been employed by the
Pennsylvania Protective Advocacy Agency, Harrisburg and The Women’s Resource
Center, Scranton.
She was always an active member in church and the community where ever she
lived. She adored her family and
touched the lives of all she encountered. She
had a passion for social justice, enjoyed working on her computer and playing
pinochle.
Surviving are four daughters, Vicki Fields Williams and her husband Steven,
Mechanicsville, VA, Lori Moore-Wimberly and her husband Odell, Allentown, Audra
Fields Smith, Largo, MD, Joanne Fields Cameron, Austin, TX; two sons, Joseph
Fields, Jr., Hopkinsville, KY, Kirby Fields and his wife Adriene, Newark, DE;
two brothers, Clifford Parker and William Parker, both of IL; a sister,
Jacqueline Smith, IN; fourteen grandchildren, Justin Fields, Charisse Moore,
Maria Moore, CJ Fields, Isiah Fields, Koran Cameron, Kionne Cameron, Steven
Williams II, Taylor Williams, Dante Williams, Nigel Smith, Maya Lord, Lilliah
Fields and Samuel Fields, a great grandson, Shamaer Fields; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister Maria Annette Goodall; an infant son,
Michael Lee Fields.
The funeral will be Tuesday with Services at 1 p.m. in the Bethel AME Church,
716 North Washington Avenue, Scranton, by the Reverend Mildred Taylor, pastor.
Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Those
attending the Service are asked to go directly to the church.
