John DonVito Jr., 69, a resident of West Pittston, died early Saturday
morning in the Wilkes Barre General Hospital shortly after arrival.
He and his wife the former Judy Blessing
would have celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on September 9th.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late John DonVito Sr. and
Constance Norkaitus Lee and stepson of the late Peter Lee.
He served with The US Navy aboard the USS
Intrepid and was a self employed truck driver for 48 years.
He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, cousin and
uncle who enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Also surviving is his former wife and mother of his children; Geraldine
Bilardi DonVito, Duryea; four sons, John M. DonVito and his wife Mia,
Tunkhannock, Gerard DonVito, Scranton, Joe J. DonVito and his wife Lisa,
Tunkhannock, James DonVito and his wife Michele, Tunkhannock; a stepson, Eric
Songaila, Dalton; a stepdaughter, Julie Songaila, Kingston; a sister Connie
Hudak and her husband Edward, Dickson City; two nieces, Sherry McCormick and
Connie Coleman; eleven grandchildren and cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Services at 8:30 p.m. in the Miller
Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. Interment
will be private at the convenience of the family.
