Gertrude Thees McDonald, 98, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died
Thursday afternoon in the Dunmore Health Care Center, Dunmore.
She was the widow of James T. McDonald who died on April 9, 1999.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late John and Anna
Elizabeth Miller Thees. She attended the
Diocese of Scranton Catholic Schools, was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption
Church and was employed by many different factories in the area prior to
retirement.
She enjoyed bowling and loved to sew.
She was an experienced seamstress who made beautiful colorful quilts,
blankets and many other different items.
Surviving is her long time caretaker, Thomas Kuchak and his wife Jackie,
Scranton; two nieces and a nephew
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Newhouse; four brothers,
Joseph, John, Paul and Leo Thees.
The funeral will be Monday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436
Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 9:30 am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
Interment will be in the Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.
