William J. Noll

        William J. Noll, 76, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Tuesday evening in the Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.  He and his wife the former Jane F. Kuhn would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary October 15th.

        He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Leo and Mary Nagurney Noll.  He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, the choir, the Holy Name Society and a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption High School Class of 1951.  He was a Cub Scout Master for 32 years for Pack 42 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

        He served with the US Army during the Korean War, was a member of the American Legion Post #306, New Jersey and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Saint Ann Assembly 938 and Scranton Council 280.  He was a member of the German American Society, Germansville, The German American Federation, Scranton, the 606 Club and he sang barbershop with the Friendly City Chorus.  Prior to retirement he had been employed as a Produce Manager by the ACME Markets in Scranton and Clarks Summit for forty-three years.

        He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, nephew, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed.  He lived for his grandchildren.  He was an avid gardener; he enjoyed singing and was a Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

        Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Arzie and her husband Mark, Jermyn, JaneAnn Pattison and her husband Tom, Scranton; three sons, William Noll and his wife Kathy, Justus, Kenneth Noll and wife Lois, Springbrook, Thomas Noll and wife Kristen, Scranton, nine grandchildren, Keith Noll, Rebecca Noll, Colleen Noll, Kenny Noll, Thomas Noll, Amelia Noll, Jonathan Noll, Mark Arzie, Michael Arzie; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

        He was preceded in death by a brother Leo Noll.

        The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 430 River Street.  Interment will be in the St. Catherine's Cemetery, Covington Township.

        Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to The Mountain View Care Center, 2309 Stafford Ave Scranton, PA   18505-3691.
