Janet Pilger, 72, a resident of Dickson City, formerly a long time
resident of South Scranton, died Sunday morning in the Mercy Hospital after a
lengthy illness. She was the widow of
Ervin G. Pilger Sr. who died October 23, 2008.
She was born in Pittston, the daughter of the late William J. and LaGora
Cawley Martin. She was a graduate of
Scranton Technical High School and prior to retirement had been employed by
Gertrude Hawk Candies, Dunmore.
She was an avid Yankees and racing fan; she enjoyed all kinds of car
racing, especially NASCAR.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Mercy Hospital
for all their loving care.
Surviving is a daughter, Judy and her companion John Skumanick, Dunmore;
a son, Ervin G. Pilger Jr., Scranton; two sisters, Nancy Straka, Lansdale, Betty
Deletka, Niagara Falls, NY; two granddaughters who were the love of her life,
Lisa Harvey, Dunmore and Andria J. Pilger, Old Forge; many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Hood; three brothers,
Eugene Martin, Francis Martin and William Martin.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral
Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue. Interment,
Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
