Eileen C. Walsh

        Eileen C. Walsh, a resident of the Nativity section of Scranton, died early Saturday morning in the Mercy Hospital.  She is survived by her husband, Carl P. Walsh.  They had been married for 47 years.

        Born in Scranton, the daughter of the late James and Ella Farrell Hunt.  She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Scranton.  A graduate of South Catholic High School, she lived in Nativity most of her life.  Prior to her retirement she was employed by Penn Security Bank & Trust Company for many years at the East Scranton Branch office.

        Eileen always displayed her strong Catholic faith and loved her Nativity Parish. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother, whose greatest joy in life was being with her husband, children and grandchildren.  She will be missed dearly by her family and all who knew her.

        Also surviving are four daughters, Patricia Biggs and her husband Kent, Topeka, KS, Karen Jordan and her husband Dr. William Jr., LaPlume, Eileen Layne and her husband Robert, Glen Allen, VA, Mary Beth Evans and her husband Jeffrey, South Abington; two sons, Carl P Walsh and his wife Lori, Taylor and Thomas J. Walsh and his wife Michele, Scranton; grandchildren, Emma, Molly, Patrick, Timothy and Daniel Biggs; Conor, Brenna, Aiden and Kailen Jordan; Abigail and Carl III Walsh; Thomas Jr., Ella, Lydia and Cecelia Walsh; Taylor and Matthew Evans; step grandchildren, Raleigh and Robbie Layne.

        She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Hunt Walsh  on July 14, 2009, surviving is her husband William Walsh currently residing in Moscow. Many nieces and nephews.

        To celebrate her life the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc 436 Cedar Avenue with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. in Nativity of Our Lord Church, concelebrated by Rev. Michael M. Bryant, Pastor and Monsignor Patrick J. Pratico, 633 Orchard Street Scranton. Interment, Saint Catherine’s Cemetery, Covington Township.

        Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8pm in the Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 120 Wall Street, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005-3904 or to Nativity of Our Lord Church Memorial Fund, 633 Orchard Street, Scranton PA 18505-1358.
