Tompkins

Harold Tompkins, a resident at the Golden Living Center, a lifelong
resident of Scranton, died early Wednesday morning in the Mercy Hospital
emergency department shortly after arrival. His
and his wife, the former Beverly J. Harper, celebrated their 57th
wedding anniversary on March 23rd.
He was born in Scranton the son of the late Clarence and Anna Robinson
Tompkins. He had worked in the family
business, the Robinson Butcher Shop, as a butcher before becoming a Scranton
Police Officer. After many years of
public service he retired from the SPD. He
was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police E.B. Jermyn Lodge #2.
He was a wonderful and loving husband and father.
Harold enjoyed spending time doing
carpentry work as a hobby.
Also surviving are two daughters, Donna Mecca, Mechanicsburg and Linda Barbaro, San Diego, CA; a sister, Betty Clark, Walden, NY; two brothers, Barry Tompkins, Scranton and Robert Tompkins, Ellenville, NY; four grandchildren, Michael and Eric Mecca, Melissa Barbaro and Brian Barbaro; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Ann Tompkins, March 20,
2006; a grandson, Frankie Mecca; three brothers, Jack Tompkins, William Tompkins
and Erwin Tompkins.
