Ruth M. Steier

        Ruth M. Steier, 94, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Friday morning in the Hospice Community Care, Dunmore.  She was the widow of Harry Weber Steier who died August 1, 2007.

        She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Schmieg Hartman.  She was a lifelong member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, a member of the Women of Hickory and the Quilters

        She was a wonderful, wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt whose presence warmed up a room.  She enjoyed cooking, making meals for her family, spending time with her family and was an amazing seamstress and doll maker.

        Surviving is a son, Harry R. Steier and his wife Jeanne, Clarks Summit; a grandson, Daniel J. Steier and his wife Susan, Scranton; three great grandchildren, Johannah, Josiah and Benjamin; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

        She was preceded in death by three brothers, George Hartman, Robert Hartman, Frank Hartman and a sister, Edna Woller.

        The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 437 Hickory Street, with services by the Reverend Tom H. Collins, pastor of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.  Interment, Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.

        Friends may call on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue.  Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church, 435 Hickory Street, Scranton, PA   18505-1113.
