Gladys Teske Leyh

Gladys Teske Leyh, 80, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Wednesday
evening in the Mercy Hospital inpatient unit after a brief illness.
She was the widow of Carl R. Leyh who
died July 21, 2007; they had been married 57 years.
She was born January 27, 1929 in Scranton, the daughter of the late
Edward and Mary Warman Teske. She was a
graduate of Scranton Central High School and a member of Elm Park United
Methodist Church, a very active member in the church and especially enjoyed
volunteering at the annual apple pie fundraiser.
She was a member Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly
missed by all who knew her. She
enjoyed daily walks at Lake Scranton and the mall with her late husband Carl.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Mercy Hospital 6 East and
Skilled Nursing and a “special” thanks to the hospice staff at Mercy Hospital
Inpatient Unit and Ruth Ann, Donna and Shirley, the at home nurses of hospice.
Surviving are a daughter, Robin Rushworth and her husband Charles,
Chesapeake, VA; a son, Todd Leyh and his wife Cathy, Scranton; a granddaughter,
Caitlin Rushworth, Arlington, VA; a brother, Roger Teske, Dunmore; cousins,
nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The funeral will be Monday with services at 10 a.m. in the Cyrus D. Jones
Memorial Chapel at Elm Park United Methodist Church, 712 Linden Street,
Scranton, by the Reverend C. Gerald Blake, Jr.,
pastoral assistant of Elm Park
United Methodist Church. Interment,
Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.
Those who will be attending the Funeral Service are asked to go directly
to the church.
Friends may call Sunday 3 to 6 pm
in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc. 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton. Memorial
contributions can be made in her memory to the Mercy Hospice, 746 Jefferson
Avenue, Scranton PA 18510-1624.
