
Grace Brown Murray

Grace Brown Murray, 82, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Sunday
morning in the Community Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was the widow of Willard Thomas
Murray Sr. who died August 13, 1970.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of Harry and Lottie Dawson Brown.
She was a member of the Providence United Presbyterian Church and active
in church fundraisers. She was currently
serving her third term as President of the Resident Association at Allied
Services Skilled Nursing Center. Prior to
retirement she had been employed in the dietary department of the Jewish Nursing
Home of Eastern Pennsylvania and at St. Joseph’s Center.
She was very active in the activities sponsored by Allied Services during
her stay; she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and reading.
Surviving are two sons, Willard Murray, Clarks Summit and his companion
Ann Marie Serkosky, Scranton, Brian Murray and his wife Tracy, Scranton; two
daughters, Dawn Rossman and her husband Edward, Guilford, NY, Kathleen Joyce,
and her husband Michael, FL; three sisters, her twin Marge Cook, Tunkhannock,
Joyce Detrick and her husband Ronald, Scranton, Joan Derbin, Olyphant; twelve
grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and
great nephew.
She was preceded in death by two
sisters, Romayne Jonas, Charlotte Diamond; six brothers, Robert Brown, Samuel,
Jerome Brown, Richard Brown, Ronald Brown and Harry Brown.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Providence
United Presbyterian Church, 1145 Providence Road, Scranton with services by the
Reverend Dr. Mary Jane Hitt, pastor. Interment
will be private at the convenience of the family.
