
Mary V. Janczak

Mary V. Janczak, 93, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Saturday
morning in the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania after an illness.
Her husband of 45 years, Leopold S.
Janczak died May 16, 1996.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Adalbert and Frances
Smigielski Ligocki. She was educated in
Scranton schools and was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church and
its Altar and Rosary Society. Prior
to her marriage she worked at Linder Brothers and Morris White Fashions.
She was an accomplished seamstress who could sew anything from clothes to
draperies. She also liked to knit and
crochet, she crafted many items for family and friends.
She was devoted to her family and faith
and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to thank her many caregivers at the Jewish home,
Hospice of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary of the Assumption pastoral ministry.
Surviving are three sons, Lee Janczak, Scranton; John Janczak and his
wife Michalene, Eynon, Joe and his wife Susan, Moosic; a granddaughter, Kristine
Janczak, West Pittston; two grandsons, Sergeant Joseph Janczak currently serving
with the US Army in Iraq, Craig Janczak, Eynon; a great grandson, Aaron Janczak,
West Pittston; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a
brother, John Ligocki and a sister Michelina Ligocki.
The Funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral
Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the
Assumption Church, Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
