
Dorothy Lucke Hilson, R.N.

Dorothy Lucke Hilson, R.N., of the Hill Section, Scranton, died Wednesday
at St. Mary's Villa Nursing Home, Moscow, PA, after a courageous battle with
pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Scranton to the late Richard A. and Florence James Lucke
on July 7, 1926. She was married to
the late Joseph E. Hilson, Sr.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Mary of the Assumption grade and high
school, Scranton. She was a member of the
Cadet Nurse Program and graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing, Scranton,
during World War II. She practiced her
profession doing private duty and later she worked at local geriatric
facilities, retiring from the Marian Convent nursing staff after fifteen years.
She then was a volunteer at the C.M.C.
Gift Shop for two years.
She liked family times, cooking, gardening, shopping and travel, and had
many years to enjoy her cat, Maxi; Dorothy’s favorite holiday was Christmas,
when the family traditionally gathered at her home.
Surviving are a son, Joseph Edward Hilson, Jr., and wife Nina, Scranton;
daughters Sandra Oakley and husband Alan, Harvey's Lake; Nancy Stange and
husband Lance, Sr., Scranton; Deborah Schrader, Texas; and
son-in-law James Schrader; six grandchildren Nicole Hutchinson, Brenda Holzman, Ryan Oakley,
Lance Stange, Jr., Christine Bouton, and A. J. Schrader; six great-grandchildren
Kayleen and Jenna Hutchinson, Corianne, Colin and Casey Holzman, and Brandon
Bouton. Cousins also survive.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home,
Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton. A
funeral mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 800 Taylor
Avenue, Scranton at 10:30 a.m., with interment in St. Catherine's Cemetery,
Moscow, PA.
