Ann Marie Schirra Bitler, 83, a longtime resident of Scranton, died early
Monday morning in the Community Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late John J. and Loretta
Walsh Schirra. She was a member of Saint
Paul of the Cross formerly St. John the Evangelist Church.
She attended St. Mary’s School in Avoca and prior to retirement she had
been employed as an L.P.N. doing private duty nursing and worked for the Jewish
Nursing Home of Eastern Pennsylvania.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt.
She was an avid New York Yankees baseball
fan.
Surviving are a daughter Lisa Olechna and her husband Robert, Scranton;
two sons, James P. Burrier and Joni Kropa, Scranton, Mark Burrier and his wife
Kimberly, Thornhurst; a daughter in law, Eileen Burrier, Scranton; twelve
grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Marie Burrier; a son Thomas
J. Burrier, a granddaughter, Jennifer Burrier; three brothers, James P. Schirra,
John Schirra and her twin Charles Schirra; a sister Irene Schirra.
Mass will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul of the Cross Church,
1217 Prospect Avenue, Scranton.
Interment will follow in the Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
The family will greet visitors in the church on Friday from 9 to 10 a.m.
