
Romayne E. Granza

Romayne E. Granza, 74, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died early
Saturday morning in the Moses Taylor Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit after a
lengthy illness. Her and her husband
Donald V. Granza celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on
December 27, 2009.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late George and Helen
Chmielewski Siekierka. She was educated
at South Catholic High School and was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Church
formerly Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church. She
was the current president of the Young Adults and a member of Christian Mothers.
Her and her husband worked with the pastoral outreach program donating holiday
gifts to area nursing homes. She was
active with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Block Party especially with the
making of chicken wings. She was employed
for many years by F.W. Woolworth & Co. and the Globe Department Store.
She was currently employed at the University of Scranton.
Also surviving is a daughter Donna Walsh and her fiancé John Waznak,
Scranton; a son, Donald J. Granza Sr. and his wife Kim, Scranton; a sister,
Delores Sesky, Scranton; three grandchildren, Heather Caruso and her husband
Chris, Hawley, Jimmy Walsh, Scranton and Donald J. Granza Jr., a student at Penn
State University, State College; a great granddaughter, Ava Marie Caruso,
Hawley, nieces nephews and her beloved dog, Bella who she especially loved.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Eddie Walsh; a brother George
Siekierka.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean
Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Paul of the
Cross Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue. Interment,
Sacred Heart Cemetery, Scranton.
