
Larry J. Lavelle

Larry J. Lavelle, 53, a resident of Lake Sheridan, died suddenly Sunday
afternoon at home. He and his wife the former Patricia McCool would have
celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary on October 15th, 2010.
He was born in South Scranton, the son of Regina Cronkey Lavelle, Scranton and
the late Leonard J. Lavelle Jr. He was a
member of Our Lady of the Abington’s Church, Dalton, a graduate of Bishop
Klonowski High School Class of 1975 and a graduate of Kutztown University Class
of 1981, receiving a BA in Television Production.
He was a member of the Factoryville Men’s Civic Club.
He was employed by WNEP TV, "The News
Station" for twenty-six years and was the producer for local programming.
He received many awards from the
Pennsylvania Associated Press Broadcasters Association during his career.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, brother in law and son in
law who had a quick wit. He enjoyed
his boat, antiques and World War II History.
In addition to his wife and mother surviving are two sons, Daniel P. Lavelle and
Michael J. Lavelle, both students at Bloomsburg University; a sister, Dr.
Lorraine L. Kloss, Greentown; a brother, Leonard J. Lavelle III and his wife
Rosemary K., Roaring Brook Township, two aunts, Marguerite Charters, Scranton,
Marie Swartwood, Scranton; his mother in law Patricia McCool, Dunmore;
grandmother in law, Frances Hartnett, Scranton; five sister in laws, Karen
McCool, Dunmore, Maureen DePietro and her husband Frank, Moscow, Erin Tomasetti
and her husband Ron, Dickson City; Coleen Reese and her husband Pat, Dunmore,
Kathleen Capooci and her husband Matt, Dunmore; three brother in laws, Joseph
McCool and his wife Kelly, Dunmore, Brian McCool and his wife Maria, Dunmore and
Thomas McCool and his wife Kelly, Broomall; twenty nieces and nephews, four
great nieces and great nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Robert Kloss and his father in
law, Joseph T. McCool.
The Funeral will be Thursday with mass at 11 a.m. in the Lady of the Abington’s
Church, 700 West Main Street, Dalton. Interment
will be private. Those attending the
Funeral Mass are asked to go directly to the church.
