Margaret McDonald, 87, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Thursday
evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital shortly after arrival.
She was the widow of Paul McDonald who died on April 21, 1992.
She was born in Scranton on June 10, 1922, the daughter of the late John
and Anna Matienko O’Shanick. She was a
graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a Member of Saints Peter and Paul
Catholic Church, Scranton, an auxiliary member of Telespond Senior Services,
Inc. and the Sloan Seniors, Scranton. She
had been employed by Nebesky Cleaners, PNC Bank and at the age of 80 years,
retired from the John G. Whittier Elementary School cafeteria.
A special thank you goes to Carol Krenitsky who helped care for her with
love and kindness.
She is survived by a daughter, Suzanne Andres, Scranton, and her friend
and companion Jack Horishny, Scranton; a sister, Doris Talerico and her husband
George, Scranton; a niece Vicki McDonald, Clarks Summit, other nieces and
nephews; great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by an
infant daughter, Mary Jane McDonald; six brothers and sisters.
The Funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home,
Inc., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1309 West
Locust Street. Interment will follow in
Saint John Byzantine Cemetery, Scranton.
