Violet Ruth Howe

        Violet Ruth Howe, 91, a resident of Dunmore died early Tuesday morning in the Green Ridge Health Care Center after a brief illness.  She was the widow of Floyd Allen Howe who died May 16, 1996.

        She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Keller Pendell, a member of Saint Mary’s of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore and the Women’s Guild.  She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of the Women’s Golf Association at the Elmhurst Country Club.  Prior to retirement she had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Edward I. Plottle Co.

        Surviving are a sister, Mary Blossom Wiles, Piscataway, NJ, six nieces and nephews, Marjorie Yeich, Mount Joy, Robert Fetherman, Clarks Summit, Laurie Levinski, Piscataway, NJ, Bill Wiles, Piscataway, NJ, Frank Pendell, Wilkes-Barre, Nora Mudrake, Dunmore; a sister in law, Kathleen Pendell, Dunmore; great nieces and great nephews.

        She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Pendell.

        Mass will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

        There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

        Friends may call on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut Street.
