Violet Ruth Howe, 91, a resident of Dunmore died early Tuesday morning in
the Green Ridge Health Care Center after a brief illness.
She was the widow of Floyd Allen Howe who died May 16, 1996
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Frank and Sophia
Keller Pendell, a member of Saint Mary’s of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore and the
Women’s Guild. She was a graduate of
Scranton Technical High School and a member of the Women’s Golf Association at
the Elmhurst Country Club. Prior to
retirement she had been employed as a bookkeeper for the Edward I. Plottle Co.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Blossom Wiles, Piscataway, NJ, six nieces
and nephews, Marjorie Yeich, Mount Joy, Robert Fetherman, Clarks Summit, Laurie
Levinski,
Piscataway, NJ, Bill Wiles,
Piscataway, NJ, Frank Pendell,
Wilkes-Barre, Nora Mudrake, Dunmore; a sister in law, Kathleen Pendell, Dunmore;
great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Pendell.
Mass will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Of Mount Carmel
Church, 322 Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial
Park, Elmhurst.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
