
Helen G. Spohrer

Helen G. Spohrer, 93, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died early Sunday
morning in the Allied Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late George F. and Teresa
Lentes Spohrer. She was a lifelong member
of the former St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church and now a member of Saint John
Neumann Parish. She was a graduate
of Saint Mary High School and prior to retirement she had been employed by
Lackawanna Pants Company as a seamstress.
She loved gardening and sewing.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Allied Skilled Nursing
Services, especially the third floor north staff, for their kindness and care
over the past three years.
Surviving are a sister, Edna Saynuk, MD, nieces and caregivers, Susan T.
Holweg and her husband Carl, Clarks Summit, Marilyn Applegate and her husband
Harvey, Scranton; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Marie and Theresa Spohrer, who
were twins, Irene Sharek, Loretta Chase and Agnes Moretz; three brothers, Edward
Spohrer, George Spohrer and Leonard T. Spohrer.
