John T. Hunter, 76, a resident of Moosic, died Tuesday morning in the
Mountain View Care Center. His widow and
beloved wife of 48 years is the former Alma Piaski Hunter.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Nathan and Esther Thomas
Hunter. He was a member of Saint Mary’s
Church, Avoca, a graduate of Central High School and Lackawanna Junior College.
Prior to retirement he had been employed
at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and the University of Scranton Weinberg Library.
John loved his family and his country. He
served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga during the Korean
Conflict. John was proud of his
Welsh heritage and fulfilled a life-long dream when he and his wife Alma
traveled to Wales after retirement.
Also surviving is a brother William Hunter and his wife Lorraine,
Acushnet, Massachusetts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister Rose Hunter.
The funeral and interment in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwood will be
held privately at the convenience of the family.
