Doris A. Harvey, 87, a resident of Avoca, formerly of Scranton died
Monday evening in the Moses Taylor Hospital; after a brief illness.
She was the widow of John Theodore Harvey
who died on May 12, 1979.
She was born in Peckville, the daughter of the late Rexford and Siruah
Jordan and a former member of the Hickory Street Baptist Church.
She retired from the Leslie Fay Company
after 37 years of employment and after retirement, she worked part time for Penn
Security Bank & Trust Company.
She loved animals and enjoyed playing bingo.
Surviving are three sons, Teddy Harvey and his wife Connie, Moosic, Bruce
Harvey, Scranton, Don Harvey and his wife Nancy, Old Forge; three daughters,
Gail McDermott and her husband Clem, IL, Linda Ace and her husband Robert, Lake
Ariel, Janice Puchalski and her husband Bill, Avoca; a sister, Beatrice Oliver,
Carbondale; a brother Allen Jordan, Peckville; twenty-one grandchildren, many
great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Harvey; a sister, Phyllis
Swoyer; a brother, Rexford Jordan; a daughter in law, Gloria Harvey.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Miller Bean
Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue with services by the Reverend Arthur W.
Davis, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
