
Joseph F. Howell

Joseph F. Howell, 68, a longtime resident of
Scranton, died Thursday afternoon in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Community
Medical Center after an illness.
His
wife the former Regina “Genie” Fox died May 7, 1997.
He was born in Taylor, the son of the late David and
Bertha Osmolia Howell.
Prior to retirement he had been employed by Gress
Poultry.
He loved fishing, trips to Atlantic City and enjoyed
playing his harmonica for others.
Surviving are a brother, Thomas Howell, Moosic; four
sisters, Lydia Yuhas, Duryea, Dora DiGregorio, Scranton, Sally Kurtz, Scranton
and Elizabeth “Betty” Eisenhart, Scranton; three stepsons, James Spangenberg,
Alvin Spangenberg and Daniel Spangenberg; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a three sisters, Helen
Abbott, Bertha Speck, Mary Davis; six brothers, Robert Howell, John Howell,
David Howell, Charles Howell, infant twins Francis and Joseph Howell.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the
Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverend
Linda Eckersley, Pastor of the Court Street United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
