Loretta E. Gilroy

Loretta E. Gilroy, 82, a lifelong resident of Scranton died Saturday
afternoon in the Moses Taylor Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the widow of John J. Gilroy who
died September 3, 2000.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the late Christe and Esther
McGavin Benke. She was a member of
Saint John Neumann Parish, Nativity of Our Lord Church and a graduate of
Scranton Technical High School. She was a
member of the After 50 Club at Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church.
Prior to retirement she was employed as a
seamstress for Gold Star Manufacturing.
Surviving are three daughters, Joann Hoban and her fiancé Daniel Langan,
Scranton, Colleen Waddell and her husband Dana, Jersey Shore, Mary Beth Cox and
her husband Richard, Scranton; a son, Patrick Gilroy and his wife Mary,
Scranton; a sister, Arlene Finan and her husband Joseph, Clarks Summit; a
brother, Russell Benke, Scranton; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Benke, Clarence Benke
and Harold Benke; a sister, Joan Kudajewski.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home,
Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in the
Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard Street.
Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
