Jerome C. Pilger, 93, a longtime resident of the Moscow area died
Wednesday morning in the Dunmore Health Care Center after a brief illness.
He was the widower of the former Adeline Kellerman who died May 13, 2008;
at the time of her death they had been married for 69 years.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Charles and Lena Shirra
Pilger. He was a devoted member of
the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church; he was the oldest living Elder, having
been ordained in 1955. He also served as
the chairperson of two pastor nominating committees and served for many years as
head of the property committee. He
served his country during World War II with the US Navy.
He worked for the Scranton Army
Ammunition Plant; known as Chamberlain, Eureka Specialty Printing and retired
from the RCA Corporation.
The family would like to thank the Dunmore Health Care Center, The
Hospice Community Care and especially Bobbi Jo Cummings for their exceptional,
loving care.
Surviving are a son, William C. Pilger and his wife Tamara L., Scranton;
three grandchildren, Brandon Pilger, Scranton, Jessica Walter, Pensacola, FL,
Jonathon Walter, Portsmouth, VA; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Irene Elizabeth Pilger Walter; a
grandson, William Pilger Jr., a granddaughter, Erica Justine Pilger; a sister,
Cora Zajkowski.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hickory Street
Presbyterian Church, 435 Hickory Street, with services by the Reverend Tom H.
Collins, pastor. Interment will
follow in the Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore.
Those attending the Funeral services on Saturday are asked to go directly
to the church.
