
Audrey Chase Herrick

Audrey Chase Herrick, 89, died Monday morning in The Jewish Home of
Eastern Pennsylvania. She was the widow
of Harlan Lowell Herrick who died July 14, 1997.
Audrey was born November 29, 1921 in Scranton, the daughter of the late
William and Maude Daley Chase. She
graduated from Scranton Technical High School with honors and later earned a
Bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of Iowa,
where she met her husband Harlan. She
took courses at The New School in New York City for two years.
After raising her family and prior to
retirement, she worked for the Greater Jamaica Development Corp in Queens NY,
and at Queens College.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who
will be deeply missed by all. She was a
political activist, strong advocate of peace, justice and civil rights for
everyone. She was an amateur artist and
loved music.
Surviving are two daughters, Kim Kulagina and her husband Igor, Scranton,
Amy Herrick-Himmelstein and her husband Sam, Brooklyn, New York; two grandsons,
Mark Herrick-Himmelstein and Charles Herrick-Himmelstein, Brooklyn, NY;
a foster daughter, Eileen Cooper
and her husband Jim, Cincinnati, OH;
a
sister, Shirley Cook, Scranton; a foster grandson, Arjuna Anderson
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Chase, Delbert Chase,
Elmer Chase; three sisters, Jane Chase, Ruth Naegeli, Rhoda Sitler.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 pm in the Miller Bean
Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverend Tom H.
Collins, pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be private at the
convenience of the family.
