Mary Grace Janes, R.N.

        Miss Mary Grace Janes, R.N., 88, a lifelong resident of Scranton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon while at the Mountain View Care Center.

        She was born in Scranton; her maternal grandparents were early settlers of the Greenwood section of Moosic.  She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Fassold Janes, a graduate of Minooka High School, Class of 1941, graduated from Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1944, and a graduate of Wilkes University.  She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International, the National Honor Society of Nursing, and the Community Medical Center Nurses Alumni, where she served as past president.  She was a member of the Community Medical Center Auxiliary and the Wilkes University Alumni and AARP.  She was a member and Elder of the Moosic Presbyterian Church and a member and past president of the Utopian Sunday School Class.  During her nursing career she taught obstetrics, worked as head nurse and assistant director of nursing, at the time of her retirement in 1982, she was the Associate Director of Nursing at the Community Medical Center.

        She was a very kind and loving person whose devotion was to taking care of her patients.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, attending musicals and plays.

        The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain View Care Center for their wonderful care.

        Surviving are her caregivers and cousins, Forrest and his wife Gail Janes; and Margaret Castles, Scranton.

        She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, George, Carl, R.N.; a sister, Louise Janes.

        The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, with services by the Reverenced Barbara Shaw Jenkins, Pastor of the Moosic Presbyterian Church and the Langcliffe Presbyterian Church.  Interment will follow in the Pittston Avenue Cemetery, Scranton.

        Friends may call on Thursday from 12 noon until time of services.  Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Moosic Presbyterian Church, 625 Main Street, Moosic, PA 18507.
