Robert P. Boland, 87, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Sunday morning in
the Mercy Hospital and after a brief period of care at the Gino J. Merli
Veterans Center.
He was born in Scranton, the son of the late William F. and Anna Klingler Boland
Sr. He was a member of Sacred Hearts of
Jesus and Mary Church, now Saint Paul of the Cross Parish.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a veteran of WW II
serving with the US Army Air Corp in the European Theatre.
He had been employed by Megargee
Brothers Co. and retired from Keystone Printer Specialties.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gino Merli Veterans center for
their kindness and care.
Surviving are a son, Robert P. Boland and his wife Kate, Wilmington, MA; two
daughters, Ann Boland Chase and her husband Dale, Dunmore, Margaret A. Boland,
Dunmore and their mother Margaret Banick Boland, Dunmore; four grandchildren,
Terence Boland and his wife Erin, Arlington, MA, Matthew Boland, Somerville, MA,
Gregory Boland, Wilmington, MA, Elizabeth Boland, Wilmington, MA; two brothers,
William F. Boland, Jr., and his wife Margaret, Scranton, Joseph J. Boland and
his wife Joan, Claymont, DE; a sister, Lucille Foreman, Scranton; several nieces
and nephews, a nephew, James Foreman, who the family would like to thank for his
continuing care; and by his good friend, Peter Kolodgie.
He was preceded in death by his long time companion Marie C. Kolodgie.
The funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary
Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue. Interment
will be in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst, PA. There will be no public
calling hours. Those attending the
funeral mass are asked to go directly to the church.
