Walter R. Orr

        Walter R. Orr, 78, a resident of Thornhurst and formerly of Morristown, NJ, died early Monday morning in the Linwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.  His wife and soul mate the former Mary Buist would have celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary on April 14th.

        He was born and raised in Scranton the son of the late Martin and Marie Jones Orr.  He was a graduate of Rutgers University and served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He had been employed at Tenco a division of Coca Cola, as a superintendant and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a logistics controller.

        Walter endured and was able to overcome many hardships during his life, he was proud of being able to educate himself, and to be able to be there and take care of his mother and younger siblings.  He was a wonderful man, quiet, kind, thoughtful and had a compassionate heart.

        Also surviving are a brother, John Orr and his wife Janet, Whiting, NJ; a dear nephew, George Orr, LA; several nieces and nephews.

        He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Orr and a brother, George Orr.

        A private graveside funeral services was held in the Dunmore Cemetery, Dunmore by the Reverend Tom H. Collins, Pastor of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church.
