Eleanor Saar

        Eleanor “Ellie” Saar, 81, a resident of the East Mountain section of Scranton, died Tuesday evening in the Hospice Community Care, Dunmore, after an illness.  She was preceded in death by her first husband Vincent A. Russoniello; she and her second husband William Saar would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary on July 25th.

        She was born in Plains Township, the daughter of the late Thomas and Edna Stubbs Gruver.  She was a member of the Saint John Neumann Parish and a life time member of the Waldorf Park German American Federation.  She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.

        The family would like to thank the staff and nurses from Traditional Home Health and Hospice for the excellent care they provided Ellie.

        Also surviving are four daughters, Mary Jean Wolfe and her husband Tom, Angela Grow and her husband John, Carol McDonald and her husband Norm, June Hummel; two sons, Carmen Russoniello and his wife Ruthann, Vincent Russoniello and his wife Colette; four stepdaughters, Barbara Lynott and her husband Michael, Susan Saar, Tina Kohanski and her husband Louis, Debbie Saar and her companion Al Palumbo; five stepsons, William E. Saar and his companion Elena Bartczak, Kenneth Saar and his wife Janet, John Saar and his wife Theresa, Jeffrey Saar and his wife Debbie, Stephen Saar and his wife Jackie; 33 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

        She was preceded in death by a stepson, Lawrence Saar; and two sisters Edna Pencek, Doris Jean Shoemaker.

        The funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Holy Name of Jesus Church, at the corner of East Elm Street and Froude Avenue.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

        Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. in the Church.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Traditional Home Health and Hospice, 113 West Drinker Street, Dunmore, PA 18512-1913 or to the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, 228 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503-1602.
