Thomas J. Madigan Sr.

        Thomas J. Madigan Sr., 91, a resident of Springbrook Township, died Wednesday evening in the Hospice Community Care, Dunmore.  His wife the former Margaret “Peggy” Bodnar died November 9, 2005, they were married 51 years at the time of her death.

        He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Edgar and Anna Gardner Madigan.  He was a member of Saint Peter’s Cathedral and served as an Usher for many years.  He was a veteran of WW II serving with the United States Navy and a graduate of the Lackawanna Business College.  He was a member of the Iron Workers Local 489 and prior to retirement was employed as an ironworker.

        Surviving are a daughter, Mary Margaret Carter and her husband Randy, Springbrook Township; a son, Thomas J. Madigan Jr., and his wife Kathy, Wilkes Barre; three grandchildren, Jackie Ei and her husband Jon, Harrisburg, Randall Carter, Springbrook Township and Thomas D. Madigan, Wilkes Barre; a brother, Frank Madigan, Duryea; nieces, nephews and cousins.

        He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Madigan, Edgar Madigan; three sisters, Catherine Sowa, Anna Maria Runyan and Eleanor Farr.

        The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home, Inc., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Avenue.  Interment will follow in Saint Catherine’s Cemetery, Covington Township.

        Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.  Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the North Pocono Public Library, 113 Van Brunt Street, Moscow, PA 18444-9254.
