
Madeline Armbrust

Madeline Armbrust, 81, a resident of Scranton,
died Tuesday afternoon.
She was born in Scranton, the daughter of the
late Chester and Madeline S. Miller Armbrust.
She was a graduate of Scranton Central High
School, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Grove City College, after earning her
bachelor’s degree she went to Beirut Lebanon as a missionary for the
Presbyterian Church.
While there she taught girls at the American
Girls College, when she returned she continued her education and received a
Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York. She then moved to Chicago
Illinois and was the executive director of a nonprofit agency for the aging.
After
retirement she returned home to Scranton.
Surviving is a sister Clara “Dolly” Armbrust,
Scranton; three nephews, Mark Armbrust and his wife Chris, West Norriton, Kirk
Armbrust, Trooper, Gary Armbrust and his wife Michelle, Norristown; a niece,
Lynn Armbrust, Jeffersonville; a brother in law Frank Hielscher, Bethlehem;
great nieces, great nephews and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers,
Chester Armbrust and Robert K. Armbrust; a sister, Mary Louise Hielscher.
